Africa: Special Envoy Perriello Travel to Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, U.K.

U.S. Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region of Africa Thomas Perriello will travel to Brussels, Belgium; Rome, Italy; Madrid, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; and London, United Kingdom from October 9-18, 2016. He will engage partners on growing concerns about the political crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and efforts to support a consensus resolution amongst Congolese stakeholders for timely elections. He will also discuss continued efforts to resolve the crisis in Burundi and meet with NGO and civil society partners actively engaged in the Great Lakes region.
